With a new 3rd patch announced and (apparently) imminent that promises to fix more issues, I thought it was worth showing how the two current patches have improved performance for Assassin's Creed Unity on PC. I am running the game at "Very High" settings at 1080p, minus anti aliasing. I am also playing the game offline, as apparently that was the source of some of the problems.
They seemed to have fixed all of the game crashing issues. Which is a positive step.
The frame rate is drastically improved.
There are unfortunately still many, many more issues to fix, however. The AI still has a myriad of issues simply getting around the city, texture popping is a huge problem, among a laundry list of still irritating problems.
Ubisoft has made a formal apology for the game's poor state at release, though. They have cancelled the season pass- offering a free game as compensation to any who have already bought it. They have also made the first DLC free. In an email sent to all game owners they stated that they are making a concentrated effort to fix performance in the game and make it a finished, playable product.
I wish them luck, and I look forward to future patches. I do hope that Ubisoft can rectify their problems and return to being a respected company.
